SCIENTIFIC PROGRAMME
The
workshop will comprise invited keynote lectures and contributed oral and
poster presentations.
The
organizers will put together the final programme directly after the deadline
for registration (1 March 2005). The author’s preference will be considered
but we will reserve the right to assign any paper to oral or poster session.
The main criteria for the selection will be the originality and possible
impact of the contribution, in relation to the content of the oral sessions.
Registration desk
Registration
will take place at the Informal Get-together Reception on Sunday 17 April
2005.
For
late arrival, registration will be at the workshop venue, “Het Trippenhuis”,
Kloveniersburgwal 29, Amsterdam.
Contributed papers
Oral and
poster presentations addressing questions concerning algal host-virus
ecology, physiology and diversity, molecular algal virology, viral control,
geochemical cycling, methods and models are welcome.
Oral contributions will be strictly limited to 20 min. The remaining
10 min will be used for discussion. Speakers are requested to hand in their
presentation well in advance (min.10 minutes prior to their session) in order to load their Power Point
presentations onto a single computer.
We
do prefer PowerPoint (PP) presentations, although we can provide facilities
for OHP (OverHead Projector) presentations. Please indicate on abstract form
whether you plan to make use of PP or OHP.
Posters should fit in an area of
1.2 m wide by 1.2 m tall. Please make sure your posters do not go over this
size. Posters may be put up on Sunday afternoon, and will be observable for
the duration of the conference. At least one of the authors must be
registered to attend each poster at the Monday afternoon poster session.
Keynote lectures
on dedicated topic will be
presented by:
Prof. G. Bratbak, University Bergen, Norway
- Methodology
Dr. C. Brussaard, Royal Netherlands Institute for
Sea Research, Netherlands
- Viral control of population dynamics - mortality
rates, geochemical cycling
Dr. K. Nagasaki, National Research Institute of
Fisheries and Environment of Inland Sea, Japan
- Virus characterization and virus-host
interactions
Prof. C. Suttle, University British Columbia,
Canada
- Viral control of population dynamics - virus and
host diversity
Prof. J. Van Etten, University Nebraska, USA
- Closing lecture 'Ins and outs of a quarter of
century algal virology'
Dr. W. Wilson, Plymouth Marine Laboratory, UK
- Molecular algal virus ecology
